Flights

Each year UK residents go on over 56 million journeys overseas with the majority of these trips involving taking flights abroad.

Taking a plane is still the most popular way to travel to destinations abroad and the flights market has expanded over the past decade to accommodate the needs of holidaymakers.

The biggest expansion has occurred at the cheaper end of the market with the creation of several "no frills" airlines like Rynair and Easyjet. Flying with these companies will get you where you need to go, often at prices far below those of the main airlines. However, the old adage "you get what you pay for" usually comes into play budget airlines as flights do not include food or drinks and offer very basic travel overall.

The main airlines, like British Airways, Virgin Altlantic and Delta, have still managed attract customers looking to start their holiday from the moment they step on the plane. When you book your flight with these companies you can expect little luxuries like meals, blankets and complimentary tolietries to be included in the price.

Looking for flights online is a great way to find a bargain, whether you plan to fly first class or without frills. In fact you can save yourself significant amounts by buying your flights online and then booking your holiday accommodation separately. You could even save enough to be able to upgrade your orginal accommodation choice to a first rate hotel.

Although taking a flight conjures up images of exotic locations, many people make use of cheap domestic flights to fly and from UK cities for example from London to Leeds, or Manchester to Edinburgh. Business travellers in particular find this a useful option as the airports are well intergrated into the local city transport system making travel quick and convenient.
