Coach Tours

Taking a coach tour can be a very sociable way to travel as you share, not only your mode of travel, but also your destination with a number of others.

Coach tours are often thought of as something that only school children and retired people do, but they can be a very affordable way to see the sights for people of all ages, especially since the destinations can vary from quaint English villages to popular cities in Europe.

Although coach travel does run at a more leisurely pace than travelling by train or car, the ride is often comfortable and enjoyable. Many modern coaches come complete with air conditioning, reclining seats and foot rests, on board toilet and washroom and curtains or blinds. You also get the chance to relax and take in the great views of the English countryside.

Probably the best way to make the most of a coach tour is to join an organised trip. Most local coach companies will have tours available to popular destinations in the region and possibly locations around the country or in Europe.

If you are travelling from abroad and plan to take a coach tour, check with the tour operator, as the trip may be available with commentary in a language other than English.

Alternatively, if you can get your own group together, there are companies that will customise a coach trip to your needs, so you can take in the local sights or arrange an activity-based tour. Even if you have a smaller group, there are tour companies that offer minibus tours, so size doesn't have to be problem.

Depending on your destination, coach tours are available as a day trip, a weekend excursion or on a short break basis. If an overnight stay is required then the coach company will usually organise this as part of the service, either finding accommodation or allowing you to sleep on the coach while it travels throughout the night so you wake up in the morning at your destination.
